So, I never added a section for Character Plot/Relationship threads that are sometimes common on RP boards, since I wasn't sure if we needed them. But I've been thinking about them a bit more again, wondering if anyone else would find them handy?
We wouldn't have to get all artsy and complicated with them if you didn't want, just some simple ones to keep track of that stuff (though some people's can be very pretty, LOL).
Thoughts? Questions? Would you use them? Do you even know what they are?

I have zero idea what they are, but I would like to hear more!

Basically one creates a whole chart of relationship type things (ex. friends, enemies, romantic interest, one sided crush, etc. only in more detail) and then all other characters pull out the ones that relate to their relationship with that character.
A lot of people like to get really flowery with theirs, and they look really pretty with colours and fancy lyrics and whatnot, but then they get a bit confusing. But they might also be handy for knowing OOC how each character views each other. So I think we would try to cut down on more of the un-needed visual stuff and get to the purpose of them more than anything.
I'll see if I can find some sites with some decent examples to show you what I mean and I'll post them here in a bit!

Oh! I love them and think they'd be an interesting addition to the site. Just as long as they're kept simple and to the point. Maybe even provide a template that we can all use so it looks neater?
Having a general idea of what our characters think about one another would be very useful.

Hooooly crap, it's like someone barfed up a rainbow.
I'm agreeing with Claire here on the simple-and-to-the-point part, since it took way too long for my brain to figure out what the hell was going on. Other than that, they seem like a really interesting idea.

We really don't need to implement the lyrics, since those are just to make things fancy, so we could then apply the colors to the actual words themselves.
Then keep the "character forms" to basics: Repost the attributes that count, and give a short description of how they met/views, the end.
Not to say we have to get rid of all attractive formatting. Just simplify it a lot so it doesn't look like an overblown myspace page and newbies to it could understand it better...

Ok, I made a section for it here in the Plot Planning section, and I'm currently compiling all of the relevant points of each of those examples and I'll see if I can come up with a more basic template.
I think I'll keep the colours-per-status idea, but definitely cutting out all the lyrics and flowery un-needed text.

Sounds good to me! Once you get the hang of it, they're really not that complicated. I'm excited to start using them.

I wanted to show everyone Sol's page as an example. afutureforgotten.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ooccharacters&action=display&thread=480So in quick run-down: 1. Sol posts his thread. 2. Olive then posts her addition, pulling out all of the relationship stats that match up with her relationship with Sol, including a code version of the post. 3. Sol takes the code posted by Olive and adds it to the first post of the thread under "The List", adding any extra relationship stats that might pertain to his views of Olive (ex. Olive looks up to him, and he is protective of her, thus these are not mutual stats) 4. Normally Sol would then delete Olive's post after adding it to the main section, but I've put it there to show everyone how one should go about adding to each person's thread. 5. If relationship stats change throughout a role play (ex. no longer friends, etc), then Olive would come back and re-post with an updated list. Feel free to play with some of the formatting of your main thread post if you wanted to make it a little prettier, but don't stray too far from keeping it legible and easy to understand for newbies.

Alright so I forgot that starters of the threads can't delete anything they didn't post themselves...
Basically by getting the replies deleted, then we know when we have to update our threads or not. If there are 0 replies, then you know your thread is up to date. If there is a reply, that probably means someone is updating their relationship with your character. Right now with a bunch of replies in all the threads, it's harder to keep track of that.
so now, what's the easiest way of getting rid of the thread replies for everyone?
-Can everyone keep track of their own posts, check to see if your updated version has been posted in the thread's main post, and then delete them?
-or alternatively, should we have a thread of some sort where you can ask a mod to delete the replies to your thread once you've updated your thread?
Which one seems like the easiest and most efficient way of going about it?
And one final question: Did this post make any sense whatsoever? ;D LOL

I think a thread where we ask a mod to delete the replies is probably the easiest and quickest way of doing everything. It may take a while for a mod to respond depending on how busy they are, but it would probably be less confusing in the long run and easier to keep track of.

I agree with Blank. It'd definitely be easier if we had one thread where everyone can post once they've updated. It's more work for the mods of course, but I have a feeling everyone else might forget at some point. Haha.
Mine is all updated by the way. And yes, it all made sense!
