Unwin's thoughts were interrupted by the blip of the eInker. He watched Enker carefully, something was up... And the way he seemed to talk proved it. There was a hint of urgency and possibly concern? Unwin raised an eyebrow and scanned the mans features trying to read him to figure out if it was something he himself should also be concerned about.
He eventually brought himself to ask a simple question. "Why the sudden rush?" It didn't make any sense for him to suddenly change what ever pace he had set before. "Got a date or something? Because if I'm holding you up, by all means go. I wouldn't want to make the little lady or... dude... wait."

"My personal life has nothing to do with this." Paul snapped, a bit irritable at the suggestion he would put a date, any date, before his career. He was a professional, and professionals didn't get messages from their loved ones in the middle of an interrogation.
Of course, Cain was not a loved on. Enker played by the rules, worked his way up the ladder through proper procedure and deserved promotion, but if he was ever the sort to play dirty, Cain would have been the main to make him do so. Enker lived for the day someone would destroy Cain's career, but the man was even more straight laced than Enker. Or at least, a master at hiding whatever dark secrets he had.
"Someone with Level 1 clearance is asking to see you tomorrow. He believes in... the older methods of information gathering." Enker decided to try appeal to Unwin's self preservation, "If we were to get a location from you, a real usable location, then we could deny him access to you. It would work out good for you." And for me, he thought.

Well how was he supposed to know? He was just throwing out possibilities. But when the real reason was revealed Unwin paused. 'Level 1 clearance? Shit...' Unwin seemed to be more important than he originally thought if they had someone with that high of status coming down.
"So wait, let me get this straight. You want the information yourself before this, what's his face 'important dude' comes down?" He made a small snicker. Were they going to to fight over the info? It could possibly be entertaining, but at the same time probably more painful for him in the end.

"I'm offering you a chance to spare yourself some really nasty pain. Once he arrives, I won't be able to do anything for you." Enker tried to make Unwin see, even knowing he probably wouldn't listen. If he could end this now, then Enker could walk away a hero, and Unwin could walk away with his limbs intact.
"This is your last chance to end this without any major pain. I've already shown you that I'll keep my word." He paused, then added ominously, "He won't."

Various options ran through Unwin's mind. He didn't want to give up the location and at this point was willing to deal with another run of questions from someone. For all he knew Enker could be just trying to scare him for no reason. But it was true that he stuck to what he had said before.
He wasn't sure what to do and his eyes darted around scanning the empty room. "Will I be strapped down tomorrow? Or do I get to sit...? Preferably with pants..."

Unwin still didn't seem to understand that Enker was being serious. They didn't have much longer. If Cain was coming, they'd be booting Enker out of here to make sure he didn't 'tire' Unwin out before tomorrow's questioning.
No point in being vague. While he was supposed to mention who was coming it, it wasn't as if warning Unwin would make things much better. If Unwin had half a brain, he'd make a deal right now. Or he'd spend the rest of the long night wondering about what would happen to him. "That all depends on what Commandant-General Cain has in store for you."

Unwin snorted, he vaguely recognized the name. Probably from various stories spread through the Underworld crowd. Though those stories often got blown out of proportion and greatly exaggerated. So how was Unwin supposed to really know if the things he heard were true? The best way to know for sure was to meet with him face to face.
It couldn't be too bad, Unwin had a pretty good pain thresh hold when it counted. Just wasn't a fan of the discomfort needles brought. I guess you could say he was mostly just scared of too many needles, which was funny because he used them himself for his own experiments.
"So... I just sit tight till tomorrow then?"

Enker waited for a reaction. All he got was a snort. He scowled at Unwin. It was clear he'd never seen Cain, or he wouldn't have reacted like that.
"I guess you do." He flipped away from the questions. There wasn't any point in getting any other answers. Cain would get those easily enough. "Goodbye Mr. Visvajit. If you're still in one piece after tomorrow's meeting with Cain, I'll pay you a visit."
He thought about telling the doctors to take a sample of his eye out of spite, but then he thought better. After he was done dealing with Cain, maybe Enker would get another shot at Unwin. He had no doubts the man would appreciate Enker's approach after a taste of Cain's. He headed out of the Chamber, leaving the doctors to do their work.

He watched Enker leave and started to wonder, had he made a good decision? He clearly wouldnt know until the time came, but Enkers last few words stayed behind a little longer. 'Still in one piece eh? ...who exactly is this Cain? And why was Enker seeming so worried when his name had popped up on his padd? Is he really that bad?'
He grumbled as his thoughts were interrupted by the doctors resuming their tests. How was he supposed to sleep like this? Being strapped almost completely upright was annoying enough, but if he was going to have people poking at him all night he wasn't going to be very cooperative at all in the morning.
It was real late before the doctors had left him alone. He stared at the wall for a bit before trying to close his eyes. It wasn't very comfortable at all but he managed to fall asleep at some point. Though he knew he'd most likely be already sore and stiff when he woke up.
