"Hey I haven't done anything to Grace. She's getting me off that damn planet, I kind of owe her not to eat her," Eli insisted. He decided not to add any more to that sentence lest he make the kid really angry at him. But damnit, he really wanted to. Sometimes it hurt a little inside to keep such perfectly set up dirty comments to himself.
Grace entered and glared at him, and Eli just pointed at the cat. "He started it." And then he promptly frowned as the towel was tossed across the room in order for the teen to cover up. "...is that really needed?" he asked, unable to hide a pout.

"What?" Klove was confused enough, but then hearing it from Grace's mouth didn't make it any easier to understand. She let a vampire on the ship. A vampire. A vampire that was staring at him. Klove quickly covered himself up, trying not to move his shoulder too much.
"Grace, what the hell?" Klove kept his voice down, but he sure as hell wasn't going to calm down. A fiking vampire! "What the hell?! Are you insane?! He's a vampire, he's going to rip out your throat the second he gets a chance!"

Grace gave Eli a threatening look. Or at least, she tried to. It was hard to keep a straight face when she wanted to laugh. Eli should have waited outside, but since nobody had gotten hurt or maimed, it was just amusing now. Especially since it was turning out she and Eli had more in common than she'd previously thought. "I'm ending it."
"He's not going to kill me. If he was, he would have already done it, and he wouldn't be in here bothering you, he'd be feeding on Castle, or Enan. Or Kenna. So calm down." Grace faced down Klove, doing her best to talk him through his panic. "We're just trying a new version of an old scheme. Instead of taking blood to the vamps, we're taking a vamp to the blood. It's just a little over a week, and then he gets off on Terra, and we get enough money to pay for fuel for the rest of the year."

Eli did his best innocent smile over Grace's shoulder, like a little kid who was getting away with something colossal by blaming it on his little brother and then rubbing it in the little brother's face. Eli never had any little brothers even when he was human, but if he had, he would have probably pulled that face often. Then, he stuck out his tongue at Klove.
"Yeah, and also, I can't fly a ship," he pointed out. "So killing all of you on board would be pretty stupid. And killing only some of you would result in the rest of you killing me, so that really doesn't work out well for me either. I really would like to maximize the likelihood of me getting to my destination in one piece. And I'm sure you want to buy pants. So we all win here!"

Klove fixed the vampire with the most threatening look he could muster. Grace was an idiot to trust a vampire for even a second. They were monsters, pure and simple, and he would fik them all over the second he got a chance. It didn't matter if he couldn't fly the ship. As soon as he was hungry enough, he'd kill them all and feed off the humans, and then worry about what happened next afterwards. Grace didn't get it. Grace couldn't get it. She didn't grow up on Nox, and she hadn't lost her entire family to vampires.
But. Grace was his captain. And more than that, Grace was like a mother. Fighting with her wouldn't get him anywhere. All he could do was bide his time and watch and make sure that he was there to save her when the vampire inevitably snapped.
And speaking of pants... "Grace? Can you please hand them to me?" He managed to get out through gritted teeth. Once he had his pants, he could talk like a reasonable person and make her see why they should just blow him out the airlock immediately.

Klove wasn't happy, but Grace didn't give a shit. He could hate Eli as long as he didn't kill him. And it looked like Klove was going to do exactly that. His loyalty was comforting. Hopefully, the others wouldn't be too difficult, but she wasn't about to hold her breath.
Grace turned around, raising an eyebrow at Eli, who had slipped in behind her. Sneaky bastard. She stepped around him and picked up Klove's pants, tossing them to him. The toss was a little wide, and Klove had to let go of his towel to catch them and keep them from landing in a puddle of water. Klove shot her a dirty glare, and got dressed, trying to cover up what little was left of his dignity. "Alright, now that we're past the part where we almost kill someone, Klove, this is Eli. Eli, that's my first mate, Klove."

As the teen scrambled for his pants, Eli couldn't help but tilt his head a little at the view. Once the cat was (somewhat) clothed, Eli sighed and crossed his arms. What a shame he was a Were, Eli pondered. His blood probably tasted wonderful.
Grace formally introduced them to each other, and Eli did a bit of a bow. Then he lifted an eyebrow at Klove as he put his arm across Grace's shoulder. "Klove, eh? Kinda like... garlic?"

Klove shot Grace a dirty look as he had to drop his towel to catch his pants, and quickly dressed. He knew she was getting a kick out of this, and he was not fiking pleased. But, pants on, he felt somewhat less awkward. The vampire- Eli wasn't helping any. Especially not with his stupid smarmy bow.
And espeically not with that arm dropping around Grace's shoulder. His lip curled up in a snarl, and he couldn't quite stop the angry growl building in his chest. "Kinda like none of your business." Klove managed to spit out, "Get your arm off of her."

It was incredibly hard not to smirk when Eli oh-so-casually dropped an arm over her shoulder. But that would have been enough to make Klove go basaltic, and she didn't have time for that shit, espeically not with two mercs slumbering in the next room. Waking them up early was a poor decision even when there wasn't a vampire hanging out in the showers.
"Alright, enough." Grace finally said, before Klove could try defend Grace's honor (a poor choice considering Grace didn't have any, and she liked it that way). She ducked out of Eli's grasp, taking a stance between the two of them, " Klove, take some more meds, go back to sleep. Eli, pick an empty bunk and put your stuff there, and I'll figure out some way to amuse you until the rest of the crew wakes up." Grace left what exactly the amusement would be ambiguous, even though she knew better. It was too fun to wind Klove up, especially when she had someone who was possibly better at it than she was.

"Hey now," Eli slid his arm away when Grace moved and Klove growled at him. "Calm down, kitten. I'm just trying to get better acquainted with you lovely people." Eli was trying to pinpoint exactly what it was that was causing the reaction out of Klove. Besides the fact that he was a vampire, that is. And the intentional button pushing from Eli as well, of course. And the clear irritation from the bullet wound in the kid's shoulder as added fun.
There was something else there... a deeper sense of protectiveness from the kid. Either he viewed the captain like a mother, or he wanted to get into her pants. Or perhaps both, in which case he would be a special kind of kid to say the least. Eli only needed to figure out which kind it was to really figure the kid out.
He glanced at Grace as she continued to speak, and couldn't help but light up at the "orders". Amusement was always a good thing. "Yay!" he beamed as he twirled out of the room on a quest to retrieve his things.

The vampire finally left and Klove let out the snarl he'd barely been holding in. How Grace was expecting him to put up with that all the way to Terra was a mystery. Klove was already certain he was going to snap and kill the vampire after three days. And hopefully, that's when the vamp would finally betray them so he wouldn't get in trouble for it.
"We should just blast him out the airlock right now." Klove said, keeping his voice hushed. "I know what sort of technology the vamps have. We could get open his lock box or safe or whatever with a torch. We could even take the torch directly to him, if you're worried about someone picking him up." Klove would be more than happy to take a blowtorch to the vampire. They'd see how smug he was while his arm was on fire.

"Hey, c'mere." Grace said, stepping close to Klove and stroking his head. He resisted, like she knew he would, but she also knew he'd give him, and he did. She just pet the top of his head, coaxing out the cat in him.
"We're not doing any of that. We're going to do our job, and we're going to get paid 33 million, and then we can do whatever we want for the rest of the year. We could even go on vacation." Grace kept her voice low too, but more in order to soothe him. It had always worked when he was thirteen, angry at the world and half-cocked, and it had worked at fifteen, when he was just starting to hit that awkward stage in his growth, and it would work now. "Just remember that. Don't let him get to you, and just keep taking your meds. You know I'll have my gun on me at all times, and you know I don't have any intentions of letting him have my ship, or any of my crew, espeically not you. Now go take your meds and rest up. I need you at your best."
Klove didn't say anything, but he didn't go snarling again. She kissed him on the forehead, giving his head one last scratch, and headed out of the showers. Grace had a feeling he wouldn't take meds and would stay up. But eventually he'd have to pass out again, and when he did, she would send Enan down to make sure that Klove ended up full of painkillers.
Or, she could tell him he could take a little catnip. She didn't particularly approve of his catnip habit, but she tolerated it now and again, as long as they had a long space between jobs and enough mercs to back her up in case something unexpected happened. Grace would have never admitted it outloud, but she would always associate getting high with Charlie and his worthless life-ruining habit. The only reason he was on Sprung's crew was because his huffing habit had gotten him kicked off of every other half-way decent ship. She wasn't going to let Klove ever become that sort of man, not when he had the potential to be a captain one day.

It wasn't fair that Grace could calm him down by petting his head. It was emotional manipulation, pure and simple. And the worst part was that it worked. He could just feel the rage draining out of him, even though he was trying to hold onto it.
He didn't agree with her, but he didn't have to say anything to know he'd lost. To a vampire. She kissed his forehead and then headed out, leaving Klove standing alone in the bathroom. He leaned against the wall of the shower, crossing his arms over his chest and simmering. Maybe he'd get lucky and Szar would kill Eli. Though... that might not be so great in the long-run. Klove didn't know if he preferred Enan or Szar. Honestly, he hated the idea of anyone sleeping with Grace, even if he'd learned a long time ago that he didn't have any say in it.
Whatever. He'd wait for the vamp to get out of the bunks and head back upstairs with Grace. And then Klove would wait up as long as he could to make sure Grace had someone to back her up when Eli went after her. Klove kicked at the extra water lying on the ground and impatiently waited.

Eli scooped up his things from where he'd dumped them near the ramp and headed back towards the crew quarters. He glanced through the darkness, scoping out which bunks were still empty. He tracked Klove's scent to one of the bunks and smirked when he realized that there was a bunk empty right across from his. Perfect.
He tossed his bags into the bunk--pausing to grab the padd out of his bag just in case--pulled the curtain closed once more, and then glanced around the room one last time. Boy these men were sound sleepers, he noted. That could possibly be handy, he realized as finally he headed out of the room to track down Grace once more. This was going to be an amusing ride if he managed to survive it, that was for sure.

Castle was half asleep so he couldn't make out what was going on. All he knew was Klove, Grace, and another person Jared just assumed was Enan were talking in the bathroom. He couldn't understand what they were saying. So he just turned over in his bunk so the light didn't wake him further. Then a figure caught his attention so he angled his head a little higher to see.
It was Enan, he walked over to a bunk and put somethings into it. Heh, 'sleeping on the couch' i see. Castle thought. Grace was pretty pissed at Enan after yesterday so he wasn't surprised. Grace then walked past and left the room. He yawned and put his head down to go fully back to sleep.
