describe full personality = Solomon seems cold at first, a man hardened by his past. But underneath he has a heart of gold and a deep desire to see things put right in the galaxy. ...Even if it means breaking a few laws. Being on his own for so long, he's a little green when it comes to leading others, but it shows that his heart is in the right place as he tries. Even if he generally scares people upon their first greeting, one always knows it when he's fond of them: his rare smiles are warm, and his bear hugs are things to be feared.[/size][/ul]
so the story begins...
Solomon was 7 when Humans landed on Heimdall. Immediately the idea of adventuring in space and meeting alien races struck a chord with him, especially as each new planet was added to the list of Human "conquests". Idealistic at a young age, that desire to interact and teach these new races all sorts of things was continuously at the back of his mind, and at the age of 14 he enrolled in the military in hopes of being eventually placed on a ship. Two years later, not yet graduated from the academy, his class was positioned on a ship headed for the next planet the Humans hoped to land on. The young teens were to be trained "on the job", so to speak, learning the inner workings of a ship on a real mission and helping out once the landing on Nox was made.
The landing did not go as planned, and the Humans were unprepared for what they found on Nox. First there was a rocky meeting with the Werecreatures, who were untrusting of the newcomers, but the Humans were quick to put their nerves to rest by explaining they were simply exploring. Solomon remembers fondly a young child running up to shake his hand and begin asking him questions about the spaceship they had arrived on, as the idea of space flight and other planets greatly excited the Werecreatures, and the Humans were excited to share.
Not even an hour after landing, the Vampires attacked, the scents of Human blood after so long driving them into a state of frenzy. Panicked, the army opened fire. On everyone. Not realizing that bullets had little effect on the Vampires, most of the casualties were suffered by the Werecreatures, and to Solomon's horror, the child he'd been playing with just moments earlier was fallen dead at his feet, bullet to the head. Realizing the bullets weren't working, and the sheer loss of soldiers, the army retreated back to the ship as fast as possible and left, with a mere quarter of the Humans who had arrived on the planet. The rest were left behind on the planet, including those who were still alive and unable to get to the ship in time, left to the Vampires whose blood lust quickly took care of them.
Horrified and exhausted, Solomon couldn't help but break rank and demand what had happened on the planet. His age and low rank meant his superiors were not of mind to listen to him, and he was firmly disciplined. Still angry at the whole situation, he continued to press the issue, and it soon got him detained in a holding cell. Eventually, the lack of responsibility taken by the army for what they had done began to eat at him in a way that made him an extremely difficult and bitter prisoner.
Another of his fellow soldiers had been in agreement, though had kept her silence in order to not lose her well earned rank. However one night she snuck to the cells in order to inform Sol that he was to be tried for treason upon their return to Terra. She quickly helped him escape and sneak to a small shuttle, which he managed to steal and escape to the nearest planet, Antheia, and land with a rocky crash in the forest (he never really excelled in flight class).
For the past 15 years he has lived in the Antheian forests in general solitude, avioding the space port due to the so-called "felonies" attached to his name for the better part of those years. Most of his dealings have been with the Elves, who have accepted him through gained trust, however he also maintained a sibling-like relationship with a faun named Olive who attached herself to him as a child. Recently he's gotten a hold of another shuttle (by trickery mostly on Olive's part) and made his way home to Terra in hopes of seeing his family again (with Olive inviting herself along).
role play example =
Sol smiled fondly as he remembered his mother's reaction to his appearance at their apartment. His parents had presumed him dead. He certainly wasn't dead... but he was much older, and much changed. They'd taken him in, listened to his stories, and showered him with love. And money.
He looked at the card full of money in his hand, wondering where on Terra they'd come up with so much money. He couldn't remember them being any sort of rich when he was a child. Not poor... just not rich. But here it was, a large sum of money they had given him to restart his life on Terra. It would break their hearts to learn that he wasn't staying.
Not when he was considered an outlaw now. The longer he stayed on the planet, the bigger danger he was in of getting arrested. His parents had assumed he'd died. The government hadn't.
So instead of looking at apartments of his own, here he was standing on a dock, looking at a ship. It wasn't glamorous by any means. Nothing shiny like the military's ships. Nothing huge, or even that incredibly fast. It was a little rough around the edges from some mistreatment, but nothing a good mechanic and a new coat of paint couldn't fix.
But it reminded him of... well, him. And it was perfect. And it was home.
