After everyone was settled and Olive wrestled the title of the cook for the day's dinner from everyone else, the crew prepped the ship for take off. A little nervous at this first flight in a new, untested ship, Sol was relieved as the crew members-most notably Blaine and Caden-easily fell into their positions and the take-off ran without a hitch.
"Alright everyone, good job," Sol finally called over the ship's intercom. "Three days until Antheia. For now, let's have some food, shall we?"
He made his way to the kitchen where he greeted Olive and then sank down at the head of the table. "So, Olive, did you manage to put together something tasty?"

Blaine had a pretty easy time figuring out the new controls of the ship. He flew it perfectly out of the port and out of Terra's atmosphere. Once they had the course to Antheia was set, Blaine put the ship on Auto-Pilot. Dinner time.
He swung the chair around and stood up, feeling good about safely flying Adeala into space. He was hungry. Nick walked out of the cockpit and into the lounge. Olive had cooked their supper. He hoped Olive was a good cook. Or at least knew how to make human food. He didn't want to be surprised with some obscure Faun dish. He sat down at the table waiting for food.

Booker was reading some stories on his eInkr in his room. He laid on the bed while catching up on recent stories about Corus. He liked learning about the other planets. This particular story was about Merpeople. Once he finished he set the padd down.
Then he heard the word food over the intercom and was instantly out of his dorm, down the hall, and into his seat in the kitchen. His mouth watered. He didn't care what Olive was making, he ate just about everything. Except for apples.
He was just imagining what Olive had conjured up. Maybe a delicious juicy steak, or large spicy pork ribs. Oh, he could wait. He was almost shaking in his seat.

Lift off went smoothly, which was great for just learning about the ship in the last day. Caden was busy tinkering with a few parts of a damaged pistol when he heard Solomon's message come over the intercom. He put his work on hold and got up to go see what was there to eat. He wasn't really a picky eater, so he wasn't too worried about what was being made.
He made his way over to the kitchen area and sat down as far from Booker as he could to avoid another strange encounter.

"You bet I did!!" Olive responded to Solomon's question as she carried a bowl over to the table. "You guys are gonna love this!!" She was excited now, because this was her first time cooking for a bunch of humans. Well, almost her first time cooking ever.
She set the bowl down in the center of the table with an over-exaggerated flourish, and then proceeded to pull the cloth off of it. "Tada!!!" Oh yes, they were all going to totally love it. Everyone loved salad! Especially ones containing mostly lettuce! Her tummy grumbled just eyeing it, but she was anxious for everyone else to try it first.

Booker immediately took a fork and started shoveling some of the salad onto the plate. He loved being the first to get food. Whether everyone had a say in the matter or not. Salad wasn't a big deal for him. He liked occasionally having healthy foods rather than just junk food all the time.
He finished scooping and started scarfing it down. He looked at everyone else wondering why they were taking so long. The salad was particularly good for an amateur faun cook. Not that it's that hard to make a salad. You just take vegetables and mix them together.
"Mmmm... Good salad." He said with a lettuce leaf hanging out of his mouth.

Blaine looked as the cloth was pulled off the bowl. Salad. He was more of a meat eater but he didn't want to make Olive feel bad. He noticed Booker go for it like it was nothing. He probably ate anything, as long as it was edible. He decided to wait for him to finish in case Booker bit his arm off or something.
He waited for the others to take their food. Actually he wasn't sure if it looked likeit'd be enough for all of them. Four men who probably ate a lot plus three other girls. He didn't know if he should say anything or just keep to himself.

Sol blinked in surprise at the salad for a moment. He was pretty sure he had gotten a hold of some meat. And, in fact, more vegetables other than lettuce. Oh wait, he realized as he peered into it. There's a tomato...
He flashed a smile at Olive, and started spooning some onto his plate. Oh well. She tried, and it was the thought that counted. Besides, it sure beat freeze dried stuff, so he wasn't going to complain. Still though, he suddenly wished that Quillan fellow had shown up...
"Looks like an excellent salad, Olive..." Sol approved out loud.

Caden paused for a second as the cloth was taken off. Salad. He kinda figured that was coming. After all her being a faun, he only guessed a main part if not all of their diet most likely contained little to no meat. Yes, he was hoping for something else, but he'd deal with it. He didn't want to make the poor girl feel bad. After all he had already probably upset her before when he brought her back to the ship. But that was really for her own safety.
He made a small smirk holding back a bit of a laughter, and scooped a bit onto his plate. At least it wasn't any of that freeze dried or synthetic crap that they'd probably be stuck with in the future. It'll do. As long as it isn't a salad every day. She tried right? I mean she probably hasn't even had much experience with trying to cook.

Magdalen had been lying down when the announcement was made and blinked at the sound of Solomon’s voice. Immediately lifting herself up on her elbows, the blonde snatched the shopping bag that had remained at the foot of the bed and withdrew from it the turquoise dress that’d been purchased for her earlier.
“What a sneaky guy,” she murmured with a smile as the garment was slipped over her head and then smoothed out with gentle hands. Unpinning her hair she allowed the loose curls – despite being slightly mussed and uncombed – to spill about her shoulders and ran her fingers through them hastily. She wasn’t completely presentable of course but must have been a little tidier looking now that she was out of that awful potato sack.
Feeling considerably more comfortable, Magdalen then proceeded down the hall into the dining area where most of the crew was already assembled. Wow, it didn’t take them long did it? Settling down in the nearest available chair she regarded the bowl of salad curiously, assuming it had been a dish Olive had prepared.
“It looks wonderful,” she stated cheerfully up at the Faun girl while waiting patiently for the boys to fill their plates.

Sol casually glanced up from his plate of food to realize Magdalen had joined them. He had to do a double-take at first, realizing she'd changed into the dress he'd bought her. It surprised him to see her already sporting it. The colour suited her even better than it had when she'd held it up in front of her in the store. And something else was different, but he couldn't quite place it.
Realizing he was staring a bit, he quickly averted his gaze, looking back down at his salad. He stabbed his fork into it, and then glanced back up at her. "Hey Magdalen. Grab a seat, dig in. Olive's made us dinner."
Her hair, that's what it was. She'd put her hair down. He quickly looked back down at his food.

Booker took a break from stuffing his face to greet Magdalen. "Hey, Maggie! It's a great salad." She looked good in the dress she wore. It suited her. Booker didn't know that much about fashion but he could tell that Magdalen looked beautiful in that dress.
He returned to face his plate and shoveled the last of his salad into his mouth. "Mmmm.. he repeated. He looked around at everyone again. Sol, and Caden had just started eating but Blaine, Maggie and Olive hadn't even taken food yet. What's wrong? He asked himself. Do they not want some?

Settling as gracefully as she could into her chair, Magdalen looked up to see Solomon glance in her direction. She couldn’t tell by his expression, but it was almost as though he was surprised by something. The dress? Was it too formal? Tearing her eyes away from the Captain at the sound of Booker’s cheerful voice and the scraping of utensils, she began helping herself to the salad. It was a healthy and light meal which Magdalen appreciated, smiling at Olive again as she swallowed a mouthful.
“It really is lovely. Thank you Olive!”
Caden and Nick were also present, but Cass was nowhere to be seen. Were the other crew members even aware that she was on board? Oh well. Best not to bring it up in case Sol wanted the issue to surface on its own.

Olive grinned as everyone filled their plates. This was going over great! She didn't even have to bother trying to figure out what to do with that hunk of meat she'd found amongst the other food at this rate!
She grabbed her plate and piled it high with leafy greens, and then plopped herself down in the chair next to Magdalen. "This is so fun you guys! We're like adventurers!" She dug her fork into the leaves of her salad and then shoved some in her mouth. She beamed as she munched. "Magdalen, your dress is so pretty! Did you make it?"

Olive’s display of excitement and ceaseless enthusiasm lifted Magdalen’s spirits, keeping her mind from lingering on the memory she had of last being on a ship. There was no point dwelling on such negative thoughts but for some reason she found she couldn’t help it. Taking another forkful of the salad and swallowing, the blonde set down her utensil and shook her head.
“Actually no, it was a very generous gift from Solomon. You did see what I was wearing earlier? It’s not exactly the most comfortable or aesthetically-pleasing thing.” Magdalen laughed a bit, shrugging.
“I have made my own clothes before though. Sewing became a hobby of mine when I wasn’t able to work.”
