He knew the question was coming. It was inevitable. So when she finally asked it, he couldn't help but let out a sigh. He rubbed his temples a little, and then finally glanced over at her. "Not anymore. I used to be part of the army. That's... that's all I want to discuss with you right now, Olive, alright?" He hoped it would be enough to sate her. In the meantime, maybe a change of subject...
"So," he decided to add quite quickly, getting up out of his seat. "What do you think about the ship? I bought her today." He motioned around.

Olive pondered this. The Army. So he did kill people once... as a job. She was pretty sure that's what army meant. But... he was just a kid when she met him. Well mostly a kid. He was still almost eight years older than her. But he had been young when they'd met. Did the Humans' army really have kids in it?
She noticed him change the subject and decided not to press the matter. He asked about the ship, which got her excited again. "You bought it?? Really?? Where are we going??"

"You," Sol stressed. "Are going home." He wandered over to the lounge area and took a seat on the coffee table across from her. "Space isn't safe. It's big, and there are a lot of people who would do you harm, Olive."
"I don't care if you left a note. You weren't thinking when you invited yourself along without speaking to your family. For all I know, they're going to think I kidnapped you." He shook his head. "That's the last thing I need on my record... faun kidnapping. So... we're loading up that shuttle onto this ship, and I'm taking you and it home, got it?"

Olive felt her ears droop in disappointment as Sol told her he was taking her home. "But I don't wanna go home! I want to hang out with you and explore! I... I can help... this ship is so big! You can't run it all by yourself, silly!" She tweaked his nose with her fingers, grinning.
It was true, though: she was actually already feeling homesick. It was the first time she'd ever been off her planet, let alone away from her family. She pondered for a second. "Wait, what if I talked to my family when we got back?"

"I've seen some men about putting together a crew," he replied, glancing back at his eInkr on the table for a moment. "Trust me, this ship will leave Terra well crewed. I won't be alone."
He couldn't help but smile when she squeezed his nose. She was still working him. Silly little faun. "We'll see," he said in response to her suggestion. "We'll talk to them. But I'm not promising anything. For now... I'll show you a room you can claim as yours for the journey," he waved her up off the couch and headed down the hallway with the bouncing faun girl in tow.
