It had been a long day searching the Antheia spaceport for any work availability. Of course it wasn’t necessary she find a temporary job – thanks both to Solomon’s monetary compensation and Caden’s engineering expertise – but Magdalen still felt she owed Sol, partly for agreeing to take her on board and also for that lovely dress. It was likely he wouldn’t accept anything she offered, but that was where she’d take advantage of Olive’s nativity. If she convinced the Faun that it was in Solomon’s best interests to have the money, it’d be no problem to then persuade her to sneak it into his room or a pair of his pants. Would it? The mental images this scheme roused caused her laugh a bit, attention drifting back to the feel of the crisp breeze against her face and the strong smell of damp moss and earth.
The sun was beginning to set, warm orange shades cast delicately across the long grass and green forest canopy. Mags was surprised she still remembered this area so well, though it was only because of the small dirt path that cut through the trees a little ways in. It led to farming land, as well as that same small cottage in which she’d resided for just over a year. Part of her yearned to pay a visit to that old couple while her more logical half argued that she’d left them for a reason. She’d only be disrupting their lives again if she went back, and Magdalen knew she couldn’t afford to want to stay. There were things that needed to be done.
Sighing gently, she turned in preparation to leave before the ground began tilting precariously beneath her feet. The movement was so unexpected and sudden that she had trouble keeping her balance, eyebrows knitting together in concern as she stumbled towards the opening of the forest. Spotting a fallen log, she eased herself on to it and rested her head in her hands as a severe headache began causing her temples to throb.

Reese was heading back to the spaceport again. He tended to wander off often, but this time he at least knew the way back. He was minding his own business when he spotted a woman who looked like she wasn't really balanced. He paused at first not sure if he should do anything, but then gave in and slowly walked up.
"Is everything alright...?" He asked carefully. He shifted his bag more onto his back and wasn't really sure what he'd do even if she did need help. The only thing he could think of was just taking her back to the spaceport with him to see if someone better could help.

She was startled when an unfamiliar voice spoke from somewhere behind her, headache becoming a lesser priority as the young man came into her field of vision. Suddenly afraid that he might think she was either intoxicated or mentally unbalanced, Magdalen forced herself to smile and waved a hand in airy dismissal.
“Oh, I’m alright. I guess I just got a little too much sun today.” It was something of a pathetic excuse, but she shrugged nonchalantly and continued as calmly as she could.
“It was kind of you to stop and ask though. Then again, most people on Antheia seem to extend common courtesy without much effort … like it comes naturally to them.” It was one of the many reasons she loved the lush, green planet.

If it was a heat stroke she may have needed something to drink. He rummaged through his bag for his water bottle. "Did you need something to drink?" He asked and offered her the bottle, "It's just a bit of water, but..." he paused. Maybe she didn't actually need anything.
Her words were true, even he noticed the difference. Being on Antheia was absolutely nothing like Terra. It was so much more peaceful, which was probably what made the humans here much less nasty. The quiet nature of the planet seemed to rub off on people easier than they thought. "I was just heading back to the Port, and just noticed you didn't seem alright..."

Magdalen nodded and took the offered bottle with a grateful smile. Maybe all she did need was a drink of water. Taking a sip after removing the cap, the blonde then twisted it back on and extended her arm to return it.
“Thanks very much. That was quite nice of you … and I’m sure I’ll be fine. I’m just not used to being outside all day.” It was sort of true. After all, she’d been confined to small rooms and a sunless spacecraft for the past few weeks.
Noting his brief explaination, she turned to look back in the direction she’d come and regarded him with a curious expression. “Do you live back at port then? I’ve only just arrived and most people I’ve met seem to be employees there.”

He tucked the bottle back away into his bag. "You're welcome," he smiled. He was seeing a bit of a spike in visitors on Antheia recently. He'd been staying for a while but was ready to head off and explore a bit more space. Even though he'd love to stay and actually live on Antheia, there was just too much to see.
"Oh I don't live here. Well technically I have been for the past few weeks, but I was actually planning on heading off in the next few days to maybe a week. I'm just not big on the massive passenger ships, they're too crowded for me." he stated. He much preferred the smaller ships that only took a few passengers here and there. They were quieter and you actually had a chance of getting to know people better.

Magdalen listened intently while he spoke, not particularly surprised that he wasn’t a permanent resident on Antheia but rather a visitor much like herself. Idly she wondered whether he’d already decided on his method of travel, not wanting to be too forward but eager to help all the same. She was sure Solomon wouldn’t mind another passenger on board. After all, he’d posted up a notice advertising rooms on his ship for anyone who needed it. Besides, this boy seemed quite nice.
“I know what you mean by crowded,” she began with a laugh. Thinking back to the few days she’d spent in Terra, the blonde decided that was a prime example in and of itself. “The ship I’ve boarded has about seven of us including myself. Just a handful really, and the majority of them are crew. There are plenty of rooms left if you’re interested? The Captain is a really good man. I’m sure he’d be eager to have you.” A pause followed as she brushed off her dress a bit and smiled up at him. “We’ll be leaving within the next few days actually.”
The rays of the sun were disappearing quickly and the breeze had picked up unexpectedly. Noticing this, she rose to her feet and tested her balance.
“Anyway, it’s there for you to consider. … Oh! I’m Magdalen by the way.”

The idea was great, if there was a way he could board a ship like that it would be greatly appreciated. He had to snap out of his thoughts as she had introduced herself to him. "Oh Reese," He smiled as he gave his name in return. He'd have to look into her suggestion. He'd like to see the ship first so he could see what it was like.
"I might take that offer actually, thank you." He was a bit curious as to why Magdalen was out at this time but didn't want to make her feel weird so he held the question back. "Do you know where on the docks the ship is right now?" he asked instead so he wouldn't be searching aimlessly later.

Magdalen paused to think for a moment, not quite familiar with the layout of ports herself as each of her experiences on board a ship had been illegitmate. In other words, she’d only ever been concerned with getting on and off in one piece … not how to navigate by signs alone. Despite this she’d made it a point to listen to Nick and Solomon’s brief discussion after the crew had made their exit.
“I’m positive we docked at the third gate. Of course I’d be able to walk you there, I’ve just never had a good sense of direction. But since you’re returning to the station, why don’t you let me set up a meeting with the Captain? I’m sure he’d be happy to show you around the ship if that’d make your decision easier?”

"Oh sure, that'd be great actually," He was now glad he'd decided to stop and see what was wrong. He may have just gotten a way around to other planets. He wouldn't have to worry about money, as he came from a pretty wealthy family and his parent's back home always seemed to be adding to his account for no real reason at all. Not that he didn't mind, having money was good for bargaining and getting a few things a bit easier. Though he still wasn't good at bargaining.
He hoped the captain and crew of this ship would be easy to get a long with. After all Reese did have his awkward moments where a lot of people just ended up making fun of him for.

She nodded then, motioning for him to follow as she picked the hem of her dress up from the ground and began heading back in the direction of the spaceport. Magdalen was glad he’d at least consider it with some enthusiasm. As – after rethinking the offer she’d made to a complete stranger – it was a bit more forward than she would have liked. In any case he seemed eager to speak with Solomon, which was good considering she wouldn’t be able to show Reese the ship without the captain’s consent anyway.
Deciding that the young man was quiet, she struck up conversation again by tossing him a quick glance and slowing her step so that she could walk alongside him.
“You seem comfortable enough with Antheia to wander off on your own as it’s getting dark. Have you been here before? Prior to your arrival a few weeks ago I mean.”

He followed and listened carefully to her question. "For short time, yes," He had for a mini vacation his parents took and he just decided to tag along. "Though during my time here recently, I did manage to get lost a couple days ago..." he scratched his head. "I got distracted and wasn't paying attention to where I was going, next thing I knew I was running into elves." Not that that was a bad thing. The elf girl he had met was very nice to him.
He wondered if it would be alright to tag along on the ship just to see other planets for a bit. After all he didn't really have a set location he wanted to go to. He just wanted to see more.

Magdalen had to suppress a bit of giggling at the sheepishness that leaked from his voice as he mentioned getting himself lost. “It’s not a hard thing to do,” she reassured him instead. “Antheia is an incredibly expansive planet, and it does take a lot of time to grow accustomed to the layout of the forests. I mean, I lived here for about two years and I’m still a bit lost when it comes to navigating through the bush.” His mention of the Elves surprised her though. It wasn’t as though Humans were forbidden to venture into their territory of course, but many preferred to just leave the ethereal beings to their own devices.
“The Elves are a very amicable race,” she commented with a more serious look … as though she were recalling a memory that had subsequently faded over time. “Very generous and very proud. I can’t say I’ve met many in my lifetime … but feel blessed for those that I have run into.” Silence fell between them once she’d finished speaking and the blonde allowed it to elapse a bit before smiling again.
“Once we’re at the spaceport I’ll find out where we can find the captain and take things from there.”
[ ooc; If you like we can start a new post in Solomon's 'Relaxing' thread? Just to get the meeting between him and Reese underway. ]

"Oh she was very nice, helped me get un lost," he laughed. She had also helped him find that strange bird he followed, which was the reason he got lost in the first place. "Though she seemed a bit distressed, almost like she thought I was someone else at first and was disappointed to find I wasn't who she thought I was." He now seemed a bit concerned. He usually wasn't good at reading people but it was written all over her face. "Sure," Reese smiled again, "Sounds good. Thanks again." ((ooc: sure start away in the other one. :'D ))
