Casey was surprised that he was able to make it back to the ship by himself. There was just so many damn ships in port. He had been stumbling around like the drunken fool that he was for at least the last hour. At least he hoped it was only an hour. He would feel like an even bigger idiot if it had been longer than that. Why were there so many gorram ships!
It had been a long time since Terrence had taken off for his family visit and had left Casey to his own devices. Ha ha, laughed Casey in his own head, Terrence would learn better than to leave Casey to his own devices soon enough.
Even though it had been a couple of days since Terrence and Celyn had left it felt like it had only been a couple hours. The only real way that Casey knew it was two days later was because his watch told him so. It had been a long time since Casey had had this much to drink. In fact the last thing he remembered was laughing at how that dwarf chick had kicked the crap out of a couple of guys in the bar. Casey was sure that he had visited a couple of other bars since then, but he wasn't really sure.
He did seem to have gotten into a fight or two. That was obvious from the bite marks that someone had left him as a going away gift in his thigh. Damn Weres! That was the hardest part about fighting them. It wasn't the increased strength or speed. There's always someone stronger and faster than you, and in Casey's line of work he somehow always managed to run into those people. No, the real problem with fighting Weres was remembering that most of them had damn sharp teeth. Humans just weren't really trained to bite but with Weres it seemed to be second nature. Well if they were going to use their teeth, they could be damn sure that Casey was going to pull his knife.
Whatever he had gotten himself into, he was free and clear now, with barely any marks to show for it. Now the only thing that Casey could think about was his bunk. His nice, warm, soft bed
