Echo
captain = Blu
other initial crew members = none
ship type = Harvesting sunlight for electritcy and space tourism.
required subforums = Gardens & Water Recycler, Guest Quarters, Crew Quarters, Med Bay/Storage/Lounge and Kitchen, Engine Room & Power Storage, Hallways
important info =
Gardens & Water Recycler
- As part of the effort to make the Echo self-sufficient, plants are used to generate oxygen and to grow fruits and vegetables. It produces enough produce to support five people, and any extra is composted to provide the plants with more soil.
- The Water Recycler is primary a water extractor, but also helps sort all of the Echo's waste and reduces it to nothing. Occasionally fresh water has to be brought up to replenish the recycler, but far less than needed on any other space station.
Guest Quarters/Crew Quarters
- The rooms are more like miniature apartments, with a living room and separate bedroom. The decor varied greatly from room and room. Most furniture is secured to the floor, as the zero-gravity comes on quite often and nobody wants any deaths.
- At the end of the Guest and Crew quarters is an observation deck where occupants can gaze out the solar system through the glass walls. As well, each deck has two small discrete airlocks. When activated, the room becomes a vacuum and thrill-seekers can experience what it feels like to be in space.
- The Windows in the Deck, as well as the windows in any of the rooms, can be controlled by the computer to be transparent or tinted black. When the Echo comes too close to the sun, the windows automatically blacken to protect the passengers.
Med Bay/Storage/Lounge and Kitchen
- Medical Bay has two beds and an VI doctor program that can solve most non-fatal injuries. It is mostly used to hold Blu's rather large collection of drugs.
- The Storage is an empty room with shelves on one side. What it holds varies depending on the people on-board. Extra filled batteries can be stored there, but rarely are.
- The lounge and kitchen are one large room, with the kitchen dominating the right side, and the lounge dominating the left.
Engine Room & Power Storage
- The Engine room runs purely off solar energy collected by the Umbrella top, which is covered in solar panels. As with the other parts of the ship, it is totally automated and can continue running without any human intervention for weeks.
- Four engines power the dome. Due to it's design, the Dome mainly uses them to adjust it's direction and for a 'push' in the right direction when moving between planets. Most of the time, it simply drifts through space.
- Excess power generated is stored in Power Storage in large batteries. These batteries can be loaded onto the shuttle and taken planet-side, or loaded onto a spaceship. Once used, the empty batteries can be traded back to Blu for more full batteries. There's also an external hookup for large stations like the Underworld which skip the batteries and simply drain the reserves.
Hallways
- The large hallways run along the underside of the dome, and then down and out to the shuttle and two airlocks. The hallways are huge, and can easily fit a hovercar inside of them. The primary method of transportation is either along a conveyor belt (if gravity is on) or using canisters of compressed air to speed down the hall (if gravity is off).
can you commit to being active and handling small mod duties? = yes
reason for a new ship = space hippies are part of all great science fiction [/ul]
