Klove opened his eyes as the sound changed, glancing up at the screen. Images of the solar system swam up, and the camera panned across each one, the names floating underneath each planet to identify it. Heimdall. Terra. Antheia. Corus. Glacies- "I live there." Klove slurred a little. Nox. "Used to live there."
There was a hand on his head, and another on his back. He heard Grace chuckle a little. Klove turned onto his stomach, small soft noise clawing it's way out of his throat. He wanted his belly rubbed. The vampire was sitting on his other side, but he didn't feel too concerned. Grace was here. She'd protect him.

Klove woke up. It was probably the change in music that got him. The lazy cat mumbled about Glacies, and when she laughed quietly, he turned over, looking at her and Eli. Even in the darkness of the room, she could see that his pupils were dark and black and blown like glass.
She gave his tummy a rub. The purring was louder when he was on his back and his leg twitched a little. Grace was a bit surprised to see he hadn't changed into cougar form. But he probably didn't want to strip down with Eli in the room, and kicking Eli out would mean nobody petting his head.
"Hey sleepy." She greeted him. "You sound happier already."

"You definitely haven't gotten good at making a fake vampire look like a real one," Eli commented. "Klove showed me one of those movies." He shook his head a little, still in disbelief over the wannabe vampire.
He watched her change the movie to something new, interest piqued once more now that he was presented with real footage of places that actually existed. This would definitely be useful. Especially for learning about the other non-humans out there. The adorable little dwarf had caught him off guard. He didn't want that happening again.
Klove made some mumbling remarks and rolled over. Eli grinned down at him as he started purring more. "Awww... kiiiitty..." He patted Klove on the head, and then inched closer to him, pulling his head up onto his lap. He scratched him some more.

"Well, some things are better unrealistic." Grace grinned at Eli's annoyance. Of course Klove had shown Eli vampire films. What better way to annoy someone than show them that their race was a joke in Terran films. "Tall, dark and dangerous is only sexy when they won't really murder you. Sex is fun, but only if you live through the experience."
Klove was like putty in both their hands, not bothering to fight as Eli got Klove's head in his lap. Rather, he just seemed to melt into Eli's lap, purring steadily. Grace idly stroked Klove's stomach and the narrator's soothing voice filled the room, talking about Heimdall. It was almost enough to put her to sleep.

"Sex is also super fun when you're the only one to live through the experience," Eli grinned, only partially joking. The best part was the end, so skipping that wouldn't really make sense. Killing usually came after sex, not during.
...usually.
Eli glanced down at Klove, who was steadily purring and not bothering to fight it. He pet his head some more. "Damn," He nodded towards the container. "What the hell is that stuff? It reeks, but it sure seems to work on him." It hadn't had an effect on him, besides being totally repulsive, but most drugs didn't affect vampires. At least, not the ones from Nox that Eli was familiar with.

"I'll have to take your word on that one." Grace didn't make a habit of sleeping with the men or women she was planning on killing. And she didn't make a habit of killing in her bedroom. "I have enough trouble getting blood out of my shirts, I don't want to think about what it takes to clean it out of a mattress."
Grace debated giving away the name of the drug, then decided it didn't matter. It wasn't like it would do him much good on Terra. "It's catnip. Works a bit like weed does, but only for felines." Grace didn't like drugs. You could count on an alcoholic to show up for work and do their job, so long as they had enough booze. A druggie? The only thing you could count on was that they'd end up stealing from you to pay for the habit. "We don't have any drugs on board, besides the catnip and some painkillers in the med chest. You'll have to wait until Terra if you've got a habit."

"No no, never on a mattress. At least not my own," Eli shook his head at the thought. "Far too much work involved in cleaning up after a kill, and you just want to rest after a night like that. There was only one vampire I knew who ever did that. Only once, too. Guess it was... a special case... or something..." Eli glanced back at the screen as he trailed off, trying to feign interest back at the documentary in hopes of changing the subject.
Thankfully, Grace went on to the drug topic. "Catnip, huh? I think we had something called that, back in the day. I've got to say though, that shit would work as a great vampire repellent, with enough of it." He rubbed his nose a little subconsciously, thinking on the reek of the container. He glanced at Grace, grinning at her suggestion that he might be looking for drugs of his own. "Me? I think I've made any of my habits known by this point."

Grace made a quiet note of what Eli had said about the catnip. That could be useful in the future, if she didn't have any felines onboard. There was plenty of money to be had on Nox, but the vamps kept humans and weres from digging through the deserted human ruins to start salvage. "There's still a little growing on Nox, but it's much more potent when dried, and snorted."
She grinned back out of habit. "You'll still have to wait for Terra for that." Grace said, then remembered her promise to Eli. "Or, if you keep up the good behaviour, you'll get a taste sooner."
The ship's computer beeped at her. Something in the course. She gave Klove another pet, then got up and headed over to the door. Grace glanced back at Eli, deciding if she should leave Klove with him. She had to give Eli some trust. And Klove would stop Eli if he got too handsy. He was stoned, not stupid. "I'll check in later. Be good."
Grace slipped out, leaving the door unlocked. Klove wouldn't be going anywhere, but in case he had to... better he get out than stay locked in.

Klove drifted off again, barely registing what was being said above him. It was only when Grace's hands left him that he woke up, not quite able to hold back the quiet whine as the heat left. Eli's hands were fine, but they were cold, and Grace's were so nice and warm on his belly.
He watched her leave, then fixed an eye on Eli. The vampire didn't seem that bad at the moment, but then again, anybody would have been in Klove's good books as long as they kept petting his head. Klove closed his eyes, ignoring Eli, but still purring steadily at his touch. He wasn't too good at staying angry when high. Or good at not being a cuddleslut.

"Ooooh yay!" Eli would have clapped his hands in glee at Grace's reminder of the promise she'd made, but he didn't want to stop petting Klove's head, lest the Were's brain clear for a moment and remember who it was doing the petting he was enjoying so much. She got up and warned him to be good, and he pouted. "Who, me??"
As she left, he put his attention fully on the cat for a moment once more. A few scenarios passed through his brain, most of them involving what he would normally do in a situation like the one he was in right now. Not that it was often that he had a cute Were in his lap, stoned out of his mind. But generally speaking, this was the type of situation that Eli would fully take advantage of.
But in the back of his mind, that promise from Grace nagged at him. It had been smart of her to remind him of it before she left, solidifying it in his mind as an actual possibility. If he had to choose between playing with a Were for fun, or getting another long awaited drink of real fresh blood, his hunger would always get the best of him. He would have to play nice for now.
He shifted backwards on the bed sliding back so that he could lean against the wall, leaving Klove where he was, no longer with his head in Eli's lap, but still close beside him. He wasn't going to push it. If Klove wanted him to continue petting him, he would have to move around too. He couldn't claim Eli had taken advantage of his stoned state that way, Eli concluded as he focused his attention back on the screen, where the documentary movie thing was still discussing Heimdall in all of it's unfortunate sunny glory.

Eli's hand went away. Klove cracked open his eyes, glancing around to find the vampire, half expecting him to be gone. But he wasn't. He had just moved away, just out of petting range. Why had he moved? There didn't seem to be any good reason.
Klove stretched out again, each limb uncoiling and pulling taunt. It felt good, but not nearly as good as petting. He sagged back down, fuzzy brain trying to decide what to do. He could push his head back into Eli's lap, and get the pets he wanted. But that would mean admitting to the vampire that he wanted them. So far he hadn't admitted anything, just tolerated Eli's hand.
He could also ignore Eli. That could strike a blow (as much of a blow as you could strike when you were high and your shirt was halfway up your chest and you'd just let a vampire paw your head for too long). But it would also mean no more petting. And as much as Klove hated to even think it, Eli had been good at it. It wasn't like he'd have other people lining up to pet him. Mercs weren't big on petting anybody. Grace was fine, but she wasn't here.
Klove quietly sulked about it for a bit, and then, with the knowledge that he'd pay for it later, he squirmed up the bed and sprawled out on Eli's lap.

Eli kept one eye on Klove as he reacted to no longer being pet. He stretched a little and then lay still. Debating, Eli decided. Or too stoned to care either way. Didn't matter too much to Eli. He was learning about the universe and at the moment it was enough to entertain him. A cute boy to pet would just be icing on the cake.
As if on cue, Klove finally flopped over onto his lap. Eli could hardly contain his grin. "Awwww, kitty. I knew you liked it." He began scratching Klove's head once more, glancing back at the screen. The woman's voice had begun talking about dragons. He lifted an eyebrow. "Dragons? They're real?? Fiking awesome."

Klove grumbled quietly, but didn't make too much of a fuss. After all, he did want to be pet. He'd put up with being called 'kitty', even if it did drive him nuts. At least he wasn't a wolf or something. Being called 'puppy' seemed even more humiliating somehow. At least cats had some dignity. Sorta.
Eli was excited about dragons. "'course they are." Klove said, voice still kinda slurred, partly from the catnip and partly from his purring interfering with his ability to speak. "good money. good meat too. taste kinda like sweet pork." Klove could really go for some dragon meat right now. It didn't keep very well though, you had to eat it when it was still fresh. After a few days, it started to get a dark bitter taste. Something to do with the chemicals.
"lots of things are real." He said, one eye cracked open to look at the screen, and the expanse of desert, and the goblin war camps. "goblins. meremaids. fauns. mammoths. unicorns. bird-people." Klove stopped to think of other species. Dwarves. Two types of dwarves. Why did the universe need two dwarven races? Did that mean they were special somehow? This was going to bother him for a while...

Eli watched the screen carefully, not wanting to miss any of the footage of the species he thought only existed in books. It seemed like the only cool thingo n Heimdall. The rest of the planet seemed like way too sunny, burning hot, dry and sandy hell.
"Forget the meal," he commented. "Can they be trained? A pet dragon would be the best thing in the fiking world." He doubted they could. They looked big. Too big. Especially the winged ones. He could hardly believe his eyes.
As Eli scratched his head some more, Klove began going on about other species, some he recognized in name from his books, others he didn't. "Mermaids??" he laughed a little in surprise. "Wow. Are they hot? I mean... for fish people that is."

"dunno." Klove admitted, not actually certain. Most people didn't think about training dragons. They just wanted them dead and off their land, since dragons tended to eat anything that looked even vaguely tasty. And people looked all sorts of tasty to a giant lizard. "pretty sure it would eat you before you could train them."
Eli's hand on Klove's head was undeniably soothing. And he was so quiet. Normally, with his head in Grace's lap, all he could hear was a heartbeat. With Eli, there was just this big nothing. No pulse of any kind, and no breathing either. It was unsettling, but also calming. It took a moment for his brain to realize that Eli had responded to Klove listing off species. "some of 'em are hot." Klove said, and without thinking, added, "they all smell delicious."
That was something he hadn't really mentioned to other humans. He figured they'd be creeped out to find that Klove had a hard time ignoring how tasty mermaids smelled. Same with fauns, and some winged people. But how were you supposed to just pretend they didn't smell like dinner?
