Ship idea

I know it's not the proper board to request a ship, but I don't think the concept is developed enough yet.


The idea is rather simple: A medical ship.

A bit like a hospital in space, answering to emergencies, renting rooms with medical equipment to medics from other ship to perform whatever they have to perform in a state of the art environment. The ship could also be a supplier for medical stuff.

I like! I think we're in need of a more official ship type at this point anyway. If no one's into playing something military based, this works as well for something more government based too.

We'd need to figure out if anyone want to make a new character to run it, or maybe if we can attract another new member who might be interested in taking it on, but I think it has pretty cool potential.

I've been mulling over this for a while and I'd be willing to run it. Would it be a hospital only, or a larger facility with a hospital + school + military presence? In my head, I've been sorta picturing it as a big mobile government building, which could allow for all sorts of characters (teachers, doctors, generals/soldiers, government workers, etc) to interact while also letting them stay mobile.

I wasn't really thinking government based, but rather like a mobile private hospital. I could see some research being done, like genetics or Bio. It could be a military hospital, but I'd like it to remain as neutral as possible. I mean, my main idea was interaction between ships in space and giving medics a chance to practice outside their medical bay, meet people with similar interests, etc.

I'm kinda shying away from the private thing, since it cuts down on a lot of opportunities for rescues and helping people in need (since a private company is only going to treat people who pay). What about a Doctors Without Borders sort of ship? They've got government backing to let them into conflict zones, but their focus could be on helping people/getting medicine to locations in need of it/responding to damaged ships nearby.

It could offer some good conflicts with the doctors treating people who are anti-government/anti-military or known fugitives (and then have to decide if they should turn them in or let them go free).

I definitely like the Doctor Without Borders idea! It's definitely close to what I had in mind (more than the money-oriented private hospital). Great idea!

Nice Can I suggest a garden for long term patient to relax in, as well as grow medicinal herbs that could be used by some lady elf medic (Muriel is done. I just need to find a face claim), and intensive care unit.

Could you put Muriel as initial crew member, please? I'd write in her app that she's on board rather than on her home planet. I'll post the app tonight.
