describe full personality = SYN+ACK doesn't look like your typical hacker. Between the suit, and her well-kept appearance, she looks more like a young businesswoman. However, the more you talk with her, the more apparent it becomes that she's more than just a fancy suit. SYN+ACK is brash and confident, and more than happy to talk to you about her exploits if she feels you can be trusted to keep a secret. However, she's just as likely to lie to you about anything and everything, and to cheat you if she thinks you deserve it.[/size][/ul]
so the story begins...
Erica often wondered if she had been switched at birth. Her parents weren't bad, they were just painfully boring. Ordinary. Completely unremarkable. They were both accountants, and not even the kind that worked for corrupt cooperations or kept books for shady characters. Her mother kept the books at a pet store, and her father managed the accounts of a convenience store. They enrolled her in dance lessons when her energy began to drive them a bit insane, but it wasn't enough to keep Erica busy. She was brilliant, but her school grades didn't reflect it, and she only excelled when she had something difficult enough or dangerous enough to keep her interested.
At thirteen, she was given a hand-me-down padd from her father, hoping it would encourage her to learn on her own time. It was a fun little toy, but it didn't have the processing power that she wanted. She saved up her allowance and got a real computer, and started experimenting with coding. Erica found it challenging, and more than that, exciting. As she got better, she started to push the limits of her abilities, hacking into small independent servers at first, and then aiming for corporate and government servers. At sixteen, she and a dozen other hackers working in unison managed to bring down the Network for a whole hour, something that hadn't been done in nearly twenty years. It didn't take long for the police to track the hackers back to their homes, and Erica quickly left home, far too ready to move on.
She erased her existence and deleted any records that proved that Erica had ever been alive, and began to go by the name of SYN+ACK. SYN+ACK continues to live off the grid and refuses to let herself be tied down, using hacks to get everything from money to clothing, exploiting the system as much as she can and enjoying life to the fullest.
role play example =
SYN+ACK looked in the mirror, adjusting her tie and giving her pompadour a pat to make sure it was still in place. She found that looking professional gave you an advantage. People assumed that if you wore a good suit, you were trustworthy and not one of those ungrateful punk youth-types.
She checked the machinery on the inside of her jacket to make sure it was still working. It was a simple device, built out of the insides of a padd. The green light was still lit up, indicating that the wireless function was working. SYN+ACK pressed a button, looked in the mirror once more, and headed out of the ladies room.
The restaurant was quiet, except for the light sound of music and the hum of quiet conversation. SYN+ACK waited at her table and watched as half a dozen other people paid for their own dinners, sipping at her water. When she felt like enough time had passed, and enough people had gone through, she got up and approached the podium.
SYN+ACK produced a fake paycard and smiled convincingly while the man swiped it. His screen came up, saying that it had been authenticated. Of course, that was a complete lie. The little equipment in her jacket had hacked the terminal and would authenticate anything swiped. She smiled at the waiter, and at the maître d' standing nearby, and let herself out of the restaurant, feeling delightfully full. It would be hours before they realized they were missing payment for a dozen tables, and by then, SYN+ACK would be long gone, and easily forgotten.
The hacker headed down the street, a happy spring in her step.
